Co-founder & COO

Sage Lopez, PE

Sage started his career as a Forensic Civil Engineer covering the Southwestern United States after obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.   After five years practicing structural engineering as a licensed Civil Engineer in California, he took a pivot and obtained a Professional Science Masters in Solar Engineering and Commercialization from Arizona State University in 2012.

Since 2011, Sage has been laser focused on new industry development, first with Solar in 2011, then with EV infrastructure in 2019.  His energy career started with the development of a first generation portable solar/battery solution for EV charging in 2012 called the EV ARC.   From there, he transitioned from a product developer and into the residential solar space in 2013 with a focus on scalability and growth.  In 2015, Sage joined Sunrun to manage the professional engineering group encompassing site feasibility, execution, and applied technology.  In this strategic position he helped lead the business to become the number one solar installer in the country covering 22 states while holding all of the companies engineering licenses.   After purchasing his first EV in 2017, Sage knew that the lessons learned in the “Solar Coaster” would be very well applied for EV charging infrastructure and in 2019 took a position as Director of Engineering for a design build EV contractor, brytemove energy.

For 5 years, Sage has lived the minutia of EV infrastructure and has developed standards to execute scalable growth.  In that span of time he has developed and installed thousands of DCFC and L2 charging stations for a gamut of applications including the first 1,000 DCFC pilot for FedEx in CA, the first MV 1MW charging installation for Penske, the Mercedes Benz USA and Canadian dealership audit and electrification (~440 locations), SCE’s Charge Ready program (250+ sites), and many public chargers at Malls, Retail Centers, Fleet for Business, & Multi Family.  In 2024, Sage transitioned to EVlogic to develop an EV software platform to assist in site feasibility efforts and condense the site acquisition process at scale.
